Patriot Day is the official United States observance held on September 11 to honor the victims of the 2001 terrorist attacks. It recognizes the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives and honors the brave first responders and service members who acted to save others.

National POW/MIA Recognition Day is held each year on the third Friday of September. This commemoration is set aside to honor the commitment and sacrifices made by this nation's prisoners of war and those who are still missing in action, as well as their families. As part of the day of recognition, Americans are asked to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by the military men and women who are imprisoned or unaccounted for as a result of their military service. Post 45 Monthly Blood Drive is held the 3rd Monday of every month, in the basembent of the American Legion Post.
